Viren Jairath

Managing Director,

Viren Jairath is a Managing Director at Kotak Investment Banking. He leads the ECM team.

He joined Kotak in 2019 and has been at the forefront of ECM origination and execution. In the past he was part of ECM team at Deutsche Bank.

Currently, Viren works with corporate clients, private equities and some large institutional investors. He leads the secondary trades from ECM and has been instrumental in building the business.

He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has done is Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and Law. Outside of work he loves to travel, read and play chess.

Vishal Bandekar

Managing Director,
Equity Corporate Finance

Vishal Bandekar is a Managing Director in the Equity Corporate Finance team at Kotak Investment Banking. He has a total experience of nearly 20 years in financial services and has been working with Kotak Investment Banking since 2008.

Vishal is primarily responsible for managing equity capital market offerings, and advising on critical corporate finance related aspects. He possesses deep regulatory knowledge and has been at the forefront of solving complex situations with large clients. He specializes in advising on and managing initial public offerings, qualified institutional placements, rights issues and REITs. He has been involved in several landmark deals, and has extensive experience in handling transactions from varied sectors such as consumers, real estate, banking and financial services, insurance, information technology, pharmaceuticals, industrials, renewables and new-age technology companies.

He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary, and has completed his Masters in Commerce from the Mumbai University. In his free time, Vishal likes listening to music, playing cricket and travelling.

Sunil Amin

Managing Director,
Equity Capital Markets

Sunil Amin is a Managing Director and senior member and mentor of the Equity Capital Markets team at Kotak Investment Banking. 

He has more than 3 decades of multi-faceted experience in the Indian capital markets, Treasury and Primary Dealing. Prior to joining Kotak in 1995, he was with Tata Registry Ltd.

Sunil has been a part of many firsts in his long career - the first Qualified Institutional Placement, first PSU divestment through French Auction, first NCD+ Warrants through QIP, first Institutional Placement Program and the first Indian Depositary Receipts issuance and has led fund raises for some of the top corporates in India.

In addition to equity issuance his incisive knowledge of the Indian capital market makes him a respected voice and has managed some of the largest off market trades and Block trades. 

Sunil is Bachelor of Commerce from Mumbai University. He is a popular mentor with the freshers at Kotak Investment Banking and is always ready to share advice when needed.

Kaushal Shah

Managing Director and Head,
Equity Capital Markets

Kaushal Shah is Managing Director and Head of Equity Capital Markets at Kotak Investment Banking.

He is responsible for domestic and international fund raising for corporates through IPOs, sell-downs, follow-ons and pre-IPO among others. Prior to taking the role of Equity Capital Markets, he was heading the financial services sector managing client relationships and advising corporate clients on M&A, PE, restructuring and fund raising among others. He has over 24 years of experience in the industry across investment banking, equity research, treasury and forex.

During his tenure, Kaushal had a number of “firsts” to his credit - managing the largest bank M&A in India, first IDR (Indian Depository Receipts) issuance in India, first QIP that institutionalized the process in India and largest IPO in India among others.

Kaushal is an MBA from ISB, Hyderabad, ACA (Chartered Accountant) and CTM (Certified Treasury Manager) from ICFAI. He was awarded the “Professional Achievers Award” by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in 2015.

His interests include badminton, football and cricket.

Gesu Kaushal

Managing Director and Co-Head,
Equity Corporate Finance

Gesu Kaushal has three decades of experience in investment banking. Prior to joining Kotak in 2000, she was with SBI Capital Markets.

Gesu has a deep understanding of the Indian capital markets and has led fund raising for corporates across various sectors including e-commerce, digital technology & IT services, banking & financial services, healthcare & pharmaceutical, consumer & industrials, etc. She has handled many complex situations through the highs and lows of the many capital market cycles.

She has served as the Chairperson on the Board of the Association of Investment Bankers of India and been its representative on the Primary Markets Advisory Committee of SEBI. Over her long innings as a capital market professional, Gesu has been involved with conceptualizing of various products and innovations in the capital markets, including the introduction and development of products such as Qualified Institutional Placements, Offers for Sale through the Stock Exchange mechanism, ASBA, REITs & InVITs, among others. She is a member of the Standing Committee on Primary Markets constituted by the International Financial Services Centres Authority (GIFT ISFCA)

Gesu is an Economics (Hons) graduate from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University and MBA from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, University of Mumbai. She is an avid reader and likes to travel. She is a part of women led initiatives that include mentorship and passionately supports the cause of education of underprivileged children.

Abhijit Vaidya

Managing Director and Co-Head,
Equity Corporate Finance

Abhijit Vaidya has about three decades of experience in capital markets and he was with SBI Capital Markets prior to joining Kotak Investment Banking. 

He has been involved with over 100 deals including IPOs, follow on offerings, and government disinvestments. He has led many challenging IPOs, rights offerings and QIPs for some of India’s largest conglomerates. 

Abhijit has also led the execution of many maiden products in the Indian capital markets including the first REIT, first QIP, the first simultaneous QIP offering of Equity and NCD with Warrants and the first Institutional Placement Programme.

In addition to co-managing the equity corporate finance function at Kotak Investment Banking, he actively engages with regulators like SEBI and stock exchanges to shape policies. He is often invited to address industry forums. 

By way of qualification, he is a B.Com, MMS (Finance) from Bombay University. Abhijit is a long-distance runner and has been a regular participant in marathons. He also likes to spend his free time in gardening.
